Shogun Bistro: Definitely a place you want to avoid

It was just a few weeks ago that I set a goal for myself: several updates each week to my blog that pertained to real-life events that all of my readers will benefit from.

Have I met this goal?  Not exactly.  I haven't been posting as much as I should; however, my postings have been more relevant than they used to be.  So, here goes another one.

Going out to eat as a family

When I go out to eat with my husband and son, I expect first-class service.  This isn't so much because I expect to be treated like a queen, but rather because the places that we choose to dine at are rather expensive.  In addition to superior service, I also count on eating delicious food and enjoying an entertaining atmosphere.

The last eatery that my family dined at hit the nail on the head in two of three expectations listed above: entertaining atmosphere and delicious food.  The service, however, was a bit subpar.

Where was this place that we ate at?  It was at the exquisite dining establishment known as Shogun Bistro in Bowling Green, KY.

I've always loved this restaurant, but last weekend, I think they ruined any chance of my family going back.  The food -- shrimp, steak, pasta, rice, veggies, and more -- was nothing less than anything delectable.

The entertainment -- a chef who kept my son laughing the entire time -- was more than we could ask for.  But...(and there's always a but, right) the service was horrible.  My husband told our server he wanted an appetizer, but we never even received the option to order an appetizer.

And then to top things off...and it was an absolutely humiliating experience...when we left the restaurant, the server came chasing after us in the parking lot yelling "You need to pay your bill, you need to pay your bill (in a foreign accent).

Now, if we had forgotten to pay our bill, this would be a totally different review.  But the truth is, we hadn't forgot to pay our bill.  We had already paid, left a tip on the table and we were at our vehicle and about to pull out of the parking lot.

The server, however, had gotten our receipt mixed up.  Chasing us down in the parking lot and demanding that we needed to pay our bill made us look like we had skipped out on our bill, which is something we would never do.

My husband went back inside and took care of everything, but still yet, the humiliation cannot be erased.  Do we particularly care?  No, because we were in a town where nobody knew us, but still yet (once again), the point is that the server should have corrected her own mistake.  Never should she have chased us down in the parking lot and made it seem like we hadn't paid our bill.

We paid the bill that was given to us.  We left a tip on the table.  We were refunded the original bill that we had paid, but the tip....uh, no.  She got to keep it.

Will we go back to Shoguns?  Absolutely not!  And we highly suggest that if anyone is in the Bowling Green area that they choose a different dining establishment to eat at.
